| 粮食安全与种业创新是农业发展的两个重要方面。基于2001—2020年省级面板数据,运用耦合协调度模型、修正的引力模型、社会网络分析法和QAP(quadratic assignment procedure)模型实证分析粮食安全与种业创新耦合关联网络结构及其影响因素。结果表明:(1)粮食安全与种业创新耦合协调发展在空间上存在明显关联性,省际协调发展关系日益紧密,相互影响加深。(2)度数中心度、接近中心度和中介中心度三种中心度存在较强的一致性,部分省级行政区较易与其他省级行政区产生直接关联;(3)省级行政区之间政府支持强度差异、市场化程度差异、农业技术水平差异以及农业人力资本差异对耦合关联网络的形成存在影响。 |

| Background, aim, and scope Food security and seed industry innovation exhibit a mutually reinforcing, interdependent relationship wherein food security provides favorable conditions for seed industry innovation, while advancements in seed technology further bolster food security. The coordinated development of these two domains is crucial for promoting agricultural modernization in China. This study aims to explore this coordinated development relationship and provide strategies and recommendations to further safeguard high-quality agricultural development. The coupling and coordinated development of food security and seed industry innovation is of great significance for promoting China’s agricultural development. Materials and methods Based on the provincial panel data from 2001 to 2020, the coupling coordination degree model, the modified gravity model, the social network analysis method and the QAP model are used to empirically analyze the coupling network structure of food security and seed industry innovation and its influencing factors. Results The results indicate that: (1) the coupling coordination between food security and seed industry innovation demonstrates pronounced spatial interdependence, with intensifying cross-provincial interactions and deepening mutual influences. (2) There is a strong consistency among the three centrality degrees: degree centrality, proximity centrality, and intermediate centrality. (3) Provincial disparities in government support, marketization levels, technological advancement, and human capital significantly shape the formation of the coupling network between food security and seed industry innovation. Discussion The spatial correlation analysis reveals interconnected development patterns across provincial-level administrative regions, with no isolated nodes in the coupling network. Major agricultural provincial-level administrative regions such as Hunan and Henan serve as pivotal hubs, exerting substantial influence on the entire coupling network. Based on provincial panel data from 2001 to 2020, this study employs a coupling coordination degree model, modified gravity model, social network analysis (SNA), and QAP model to empirically examine the network structure of coupling between food security and seed industry innovation. The development of each provincial-level administrative region is not isolated, all provincial-level administrative regions are interconnected with one another. It is therefore necessary to promote the coordinated development of food security and seed industry innovation from a holistic perspective. Conclusions The implementation of China’s national food security strategy underscores the high importance that the country attaches to food security, and actively takes effective measures to advance high-quality food security development. Major agricultural provincial-level administrative regions such as Hunan and Henan are closely related to other provincial-level administrative regions in the spatial correlation network, playing an important role in the entire coupling network. It is imperative to leverage the core competitive advantages of major agricultural production areas while fostering efficient interprovincial circulation of innovation resources, including technological know-how, capital, and talent. Recommendations and perspectives This study innovates by analyzing the coupling dynamics between food security and seed industry innovation in China from the perspective of social networks, and combining the QAP method to identify the driving factors of the coupling network between food security and seed industry innovation, further enhancing the understanding of the coupling network between food security and seed industry innovation. During the development process, attention must be paid to disparities in the development of agricultural factors across provincial-level administrative regions. Agricultural development approaches should be adjusted in a timely manner, with enhanced government support, improved market development levels, and elevated agricultural technology standards, coupled with better allocation of agricultural human capital. |
